I’d arrived into Milton Keynes over an hour early, outside the stadium had already started to build up with various celebrity vehicles, I had just passed a custom painted Lamborghini parked up and met a fellow magician and good friend of mine, Colin Reid.
Colin was equally just as excited as me, over 600 people due to celebrate Frank’s 60th and we were the only two magicians on the premises. You would think a high profile event like this we would find it easy to find a contact……but after 30 minutes or so of walking around the venue we got directed by security into a private room. Where to our surprise we were handed ‘Access All Areas’ lanyards.
Then the situation got very surreal, as Frank Bruno himself walked directly into the room, took a seat next to Colin and myself and proceeded to start a conversation with us. Colin and I both performed a trick to Frank before he had to go and join his guests and prepare for the dinner.
As the badge stated AAA……we thought we would take full advantage and head straight upstairs to the VIP pre party. This was a drinks reception style, we both performed to various guests of Franks along with having a memorable conversation with living legend Michael Watson!
Throughout the evening Colin and I performed to various guests including Martyn Ford, Cass Pennant and Steve Collins. We were privileged to hear all the personal birthday video messages from various boxers including Mike Tyson and Tyson Fury.
After over 3 hours of performing our time at Frank’s birthday was done, unfortunately we only had an allocated time slot so we did what we could in the time we had, a truly memorable evening that I always look back on.
